Food

What’s to eat?
On Cycle Queensland you are provided with three cycling sized meals a day (except for lunch on the rest day) prepared by professional caterers.
Breakfast is typically a choice of cereals, bread and spreads, yoghurt, fruit and a hot item (eg, scrambled eggs etc). Milk and juice are also available.
Lunch is typically a roll or a wrap with various different meats, salads & dressings/condiments as well as fruit, dessert, a sweet extra and a drink. Lunch is served on the bike route typically between half and ¾ along. There is no lunch provided on the rest day as the majority of riders head off early to explore the town or go on organised tours.
Dinner is always a main and dessert with bread and fruit available also.
Two standard meal types are offered - Meat and Vegetarian. Meat may include beef, lamb, pork, fish or chicken. Vegetarian meals do not contain meat but may/will contain other animal products.
There is also a special diet option available and potential participants must complete the Special Diet form and have it accepted before their entry will be accepted. Special diets that can be catered without difficulty are vegan, gluten free, lactose intolerant and nut allergy. Other special diet catering is at the discretion of Bicycle Queensland.
Community groups are organised to sell food and drink at rest stops along the bike route roughly every 25 - 30km, with all proceeds going to the group. These locations are marked on the maps in The Guide. So make sure you stop and sample some of the local offerings. A community group usually run a food outlet on the campsite each day for those who are looking for a “second lunch”.
